<책소개> 

 

‘스펙트럼: 과학과 신앙’ 2호 『외계인과 기독교 신앙』에서는 지구와 태양계 밖의 외계 생명체(및 외계 지성체)와 관련된 이슈를 사회적·과학적·신학적 견지에서 다룬다. 외계 생명체의 존재는 말할 것도 없고 그들의 지구 방문·개입·간섭 등을 골자로 하는 민간 신앙의 문제를 문화연구가 이원석의 글 「외계인 담론이 우리에게 주는 의미」에서 살펴본다. 천문학자 우종학 교수의 「외계 행성, 외계 생명, 외계 지성, 외계 문명」에서는 외계 생명체의 존재 가능성을 현재까지 드러난 과학적 사실을 토대로 정리하고 전망한다. 테드 피터스의 「우주생물학과 우주기독론」에서는 외계 지성체가 존재할 경우 신학에 미칠 파장에 대해, 그리스도의 성육신과 우주적 구원에 대해 여러 신학자의 이론과 사상을 광범위하게 펼쳐 보인다.

권두 인터뷰 「어쩌다 과학자가 되어」에서는 서울시립과학관 이정모 관장이 과학자로서 신앙인으로서 살아 온 길을 회고하고, 스펙트럼 연재물 ‘성경 속 과학의 수수께끼’에서는 「가인의 아내는 누구인가」라는 제하 글에서 송인규 한국교회탐구센터 소장이 치밀한 자료를 바탕으로 4가지 견해를 소개한다. 이 외에도 5편의 과학책 리뷰가 실렸다.
